One of the first applications I downloaded in the Mac App Store was Twitter for Mac. It’s a new version of an earlier Twitter client called Tweetie. You’ll also need a Twitter account of course.
The application is completely free and you can easily download it if you got the newest OS X Snow Leopard update with the Mac App Store.
This is how the user interface looks.
It looks very good, as you can. Everything is simple and feels very natural to use because of beautiful slides when something is clicked.
One the left side we got a menu with 6 buttons:
timeline – shows you all the Tweets from the people you’re following
mentions – Tweets where you’re mentioned
messages – your direct messages
lists – your lists
profile – your own profile
search – the search feature with the current trending topics
So basically you have access to almost the same features as on the website. Very well done, I think, especially when you consider how beautiful the design is.
Basically it’s like Twitter for iPhone. It works very well and it’s easy to use. Overall I really like it, now I don’t need to have my browser open anymore just to check Twitter.
Good: great design, free
Bad: might be too simple for some users
I just saw #2010memories was a trending topic on Twitter, so I thought it would be a great idea to write some of my own 2010 memories:
- A couple of movies, including the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Toy Story 3
- When Apple introduced some of their products like the iPad and iPhone 4
- When the trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 4 was released
- A few games, including WoW: Cataclysm and Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Meeting some new friends and having lots of fun with my family
And probably lots of more stuff, this was just what I could come up with. What do you remember from 2010?
Everyone has been tweeting about some new kind of Twitter for some days, but what’s it all about?
It’s because Twitter.com isn’t going to be the old boring website anymore… It’s going to be new and beautiful. This video shows what it’s all about.
As you can see, it’s a whole new smooth design. It’s going to have many new features, including videos and photos embedded directly on Twitter. It has already been rolled out to a very small percentage of users. Unfortunately I’m not one of those users, are you?
