Microsoft unveils Windows 8 in new video.

In 2009 Microsoft released Windows 7. It was received very well because Microsoft managed to fix a lot of the problems which Vista had. Now, however, it looks like they want to do something completely different with Windows 8. They have just released this new video about it:

As you can see… it really is different! It doesn’t look like Windows as we know. It’s more like Windows Phone 7, their OS for phones.

It’s very clear that it’s definitely designed with touch in mind and personally I think it looks very interesting. I think it’s a good idea their trying something new out but can this really replace the old user interface? Apple are also working on a touch version of their OS called OS X Lion but they are focusing a lot more on multi-touch trackpads instead of actual touch screens.
I’m sure Microsoft will tell us a lot more in the future!

Nokia and Microsoft has just announced a new partnership, but what's all the fuzz about?

If you’re reading Engadget or Gizmodo daily, you probably already know about it. Nokia and Microsoft has just announced a new partnership, but what’s all the fuzz about?

The biggest thing about this, is that Windows Phone 7 is going to be Nokia’s new primary OS for phones. WP7 is the mobile operating system which Microsoft introduced about a year ago.
That basicially means Symbian, used in earlier Nokia phones, is dead.

This partnership also means they’ll be working together in other ways. Bing will be the primary search engine on Nokia phones, and Microsoft will get WP7 out to a lot more customers.

Here’s a video from Nokia and Microsoft:

I personally think this is one of the best things Nokia could do. The last few years have been tough for them because of the competition from Apple and Android. Now, they’re finally getting rid of the terrible Symbian OS and goes new ways.

Gizmodo has just published an article: “Why Didn’t Nokia Use Android? Because That Would Be Giving Up“. It’s very interesting, check it out!

I’ve owned an iPhone for 2 years, so I’m not a big Android fan myself. I do, however, think that this is very interesting, and my next phone could actually be a Nokia phone. I never thought I would say that again.

In a new video Microsoft states OpenOffice is bad choice, especially for companies. Watch it yourself here.

What do you think about OpenOffice? I’ve used it for years now, and I personally love it. I know Office in some ways is better, like PowerPoint, but it also costs money, and it’s not open-source. So I think I’ll stick with it for now, and if I had to buy something, I would probably look at Apple’s iWork instead. It looks so cool!
Again, what do you think and what do you use?

Microsoft has recently launched a new Mac vs PC website. It basically tells everyone to stick with Windows because it's what almost everyone is used to.

Microsoft has recently launched a new Mac vs PC website. It basically tells everyone to stick with Windows because it’s what almost everyone is used to.

One of the things Microsoft states is this:

The computer that’s easiest to use is typically the one you already know how to use. While some may say Macs are easy, the reality is that they can come with a learning curve. PCs running Windows 7 look and work more like the computers you’re familiar with, so you can get up and running quickly.

Maybe, but is that really a good reason? If you’ve used Windows for years and want to try something new, why not do it? I’m not saying that Macs are better, I’m just saying that I think it’s a stupid reason to stick with Windows forever just because it might be the only thing people are used to. If people are happy with what they’re using, they should keep using it. If people want to try something new, they should do it.

One thing everyone should consider, and what Microsoft pretty much ignores, is that every Mac is a PC. You can easily install Windows 7 on a Mac.
I should be getting my first Mac tomorrow, a MacBook Pro, and I don’t only buy it because of Mac OS X. I think Windows is fine, but the built quality of Macs are far beyond almost every PC I’ve seen. Macs are just beautiful without all sorts of stupid stickers. But I do like both Windows and Mac.

What do you use, and why?

I've been wondering about something for some time now... Why do companies sell so many phones?

I’ve been wondering about something for some time now… Why do companies sell so many phones?

You know, HTC, Nokia, Sony Ericsson. They have SO many phones, it’s actually pretty hard to find the right one, sometimes.

HTC Legend

HTC Desire

HTC Tattoo

HTC Hero

HTC Smart

HTC Magic

and more…

Pretty many, huh? Why don’t they, or maybe a new company, create just one ultimate phone? Just like Apple. They keep updating the same phone for a year, before selling a new. I think other companies should try to do the same thing with one of the other mobile systems like Android or Windows Phone 7.

Is it just me, or do you think it would be nice too? Of course it’s also good to sell many phones, it gives the users more choices. But one awesome phone that doesn’t get old the day after the purchase, that’s nice! Again, I was just wondering about this…

Windows Phone 7 Series is a new a new mobile operating system for Microsoft.

Windows Phone 7 Series is a new mobile operating system from Microsoft. Until now, I haven’t been reading a lot about it, but I think it looks very cool – and I’m an iPhone user! Not that I think it’s better than iPhone… Well, I guess it’s the best thing from Microsoft in a looong time!

Here are two posts about it from Engadget:
Windows Phone 7 Series is official, and Microsoft is playing to win
Windows Phone 7 Series hands-on and impressions

If you’re too lazy, you don’t have to read lots of text, to see how Windows Phone 7 Series looks like. Here’s a video!

I wonder how the next iPhone will be… I think Apple has to come up with something more new, than they did with the 3G and 3GS.
