If you like The Lord of the Rings then you’re probably already very excited about the two new upcoming movies based on The Hobbit. The official trailer for the first part, An Unexpected Journey, was released yesterday after years of waiting!

Part 1 will be released next year while the last one, There and back again, will hit screens in 2012. Director Peter Jackson has also been posting production videos from the movie set in New Zealand.

Update: Peter Jackson has just released the fifth production video. Once again quite amazing, this time we get to see some of the outdoor locations, including Hobbiton.

The Last Harry Potter Movie on Blu-ray and DVD

1

After 10 years with Harry Potter I finally got the last movie on Blu-ray and DVD when it was released in Denmark today.

Deathly Hallows Part 2

When I look back, I’m so happy and proud to have followed Harry, Ron and Hermione since the first movie was released in 2001. I’ve grown up with the characters and I’ll definitely continue to read the books and watch the films. Who can live without magic?

Harry Potter: The Last Day of Filming

1

E! Online posted this little sneak peak from the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. It’s a very sad and moving clip from the last day of filming after 10 wonderful years.

Guaranteed to make you shed a tear if you’re a true fan. Enjoy.

The Hobbit Production Video #4

0

Director Peter Jackson and the rest of The Hobbit movie crew have released the fourth production video from the set in New Zealand.
This time to tell us a bit about how the movie is shot in 3D and what that really means for us when we get to experience the first out of two parts next year.

As mentioned in several other posts, I’m very excited about this movie. It looks like the crew are really putting their heart and soul into making these some of the best movies ever created. And who doesn’t want to see Middle-Earth in 3D?

Excited about The New Tintin Movie!

0

I must admit I’ve never really been a fan of Tintin. Probably because I’ve never read the comics or seen much of the television series.

However, I’m VERY excited about this new upcoming animated movie which is directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Peter Jackson. Not much to say, just watch the trailer!

Are you going to watch it?

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 on DVD

As a HUGE Pirates of the Caribbean fan I just got the forth movie on DVD yesterday when it was released in Denmark.

Like all the other movies in the series this one wasn’t received well by the critics and I really don’t understand why. It’s a great movie and Johnny Depp is amazing as Jack Sparrow. Personally I think he’s one of the best movie characters ever created!

You should really buy it if you haven’t seen it. Trust me, it’s really good! :)

Third Production Video from The Hobbit Released

1

It’s now 2 weeks since the second Hobbit production video and already a few months since the first. The third has just been released yesterday!
This time we get to hear more about the wonderful cast and the 13 dwarves. There’s also a little surprise at the end of the video which I’m sure will please all fans!

If you’ve been living under a rock for a few years now you might not now that The Hobbit, the famous book by Tolkien, is being made into two movies. Peter Jackson who directed The Lord of the Rings is also back as the director of this movie.
I’m very excited about it and I think it’s awesome we get to get to see how they’re making the movie. I would give anything to visit the set in New Zealand someday.

Part 1 will be released in 2012 and Part 2 in 2013.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Review

0

After a decade with the Harry Potter film series the eighth and final movie is finally released around the world. I went to see it yesterday and it really is perfect. (No Spoilers)

It all seems like yesterday for me when the first movie was released, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It could have been a disaster to make a film about J. K. Rowling’s first book about the the-boy-who-lived but surpringsly it turned out to be very good. And even better, there was still atleast 6 more movies coming because that’s the number of books.
Since then the movies continued to be fantastic because of the attention to detail. While having new directors and composers through the years, which I think is good, most of the same cast has still been preserved. That’s probably the best thing about these films. Most of us have grown up with the actors and a new cast just wouldn’t be the same after all these years.

Time does indeed fly very fast and now there’s only one movie left. Take a look at the final trailer if you still haven’t seen it!

The director this time is David Yates who’ve also directed 3 of the previous movies. In a recent interview he said, “we wanted to go out with a big bang“, and that’s exactly what this movie does.
Compared to previous movies, especially Part 1, this really is a war movie with lots of action and special effects. We finally get to see the end of the story on the big screen. This is probably what we’ve all been waiting for and it’s not going to be without a big battle between good and evil. Characters die in this movie and Voldemort doesn’t give up without a fight.

Even though the last movie was splitted into two parts there were still many details left out. I can imagine the fans of the books might have mixed feelings about this but I didn’t think it was a problem. Since it’s some time ago I read the book now it almost felt like seeing the story again for the first time and I think it’s because they really did a great job the get the most important details into the movie.
Not everything is identical though. For example some parts of the big fight are a little different and some reviewers even call those scenes better than what’s really in the book.

The cast does a phenomenal job in this one, maybe the best in all of the Harry Potter movies. Especially Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint who play the three main characters we’ve come to love through the years. But if you haven’t read the story you’ll be surprised to see some of the other characters really gets to shine in this one too. Especially Alan Rickman as Severus Snape.
At the end of the movie you’ll be sad, happy, proud and tearful. After 10 years this really is the end of an era and we’re all going to miss these wonderful and magical characters.

One thing I usally find very important in these types of movies is music and Part 2 really surprised me. Composer Alexandre Desplat, who’ve worked on the last two movies, did an overall better job than he did with Part 1. But what’s even more impressive is that there are also small music pieces from the first movie! It really helps the film series to come full circle! That was one of the things I had really hoped for and I was so happy to hear the original tunes again.
This is also the only movie to be in 3D. You’ve probably already decided whether you’ll be seeing it with plastic glasses on or not but personally I think it was worth it. It added some great depth without being too much. Just don’t expect it to be like Transformers 3.

Overall

Ultimately, this movie really is everything we’ve been hoping for. For me it was far better than I expected and I don’t think it would be possible to make the last Harry Potter movie better than this. It’ll make you proud and sad at the same time because you’ve followed the characters to the very end.

The Harry Potter films are some of the best movies ever created and the last installment is without doubt the movie of the year.

New Production Video from The Hobbit

0

One of the most famous books in the world is without doubt The Hobbit by Tolkien. It’s the predecessor to The Lord of the Rings and it’s being made into a movie right now on New Zealand as we speak. It’s being filmed in 3D and splitted into 2 parts like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The excellent director Peter Jackson released a video blog about 3 months ago, and now he’s back with a new one to make us even more excited.

It’s hard to believe this is finally happening. Just hearing the fantastic The Lord of the Rings music in the background makes it almost impossible to wait. But really, this will be worth it! Part 1 is being released at the end of next year and part 2 in 2013.

Harry Potter Cast and Crew say Goodbye

0

The premiere for Harry Potter 7: Part 2 was held in London yesterday. Since this is the last installment in the series the actors and crew walked on stage for an emotional moment to say thanks and goodbye at the same time.
If you didn’t catch this either in real life or on the live stream it’s a must-see if you’ve followed the movies from the very beginning.

The movie will be released in cinemas around the world next week. I’ve followed all the movies and books so it’ll both be sad and amazing to finally see the final battle of Hogwarts.
